Sanford- George E. Mann, proud Dad of his six boys, passed away this past week. He was a long-time resident of Sanford. Born in Lewiston on April 5, 1950, the son of the late Wilbur and Georgette Mann, George graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969. He went on to Husson College where he was a member of Circle K. In 1973, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Husson and went on to work many years in retail and insurance. Most notably he worked for K-Mart, Hannaford Bros., Equitable Life Insurance Company, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where he spent thirteen years.He is survived by his six sons, Bryan and his wife Kim (Patterson) Mann and their two children of Wells, Nathan Mann and his wife Erica (Garneau) Mann and their three children of Springvale, Aaron Mann and Ian Mann both of Springvale, Eben Mann of Kennebunk, and Zachary Mann and Jamie Calcaterra and their son of Springvale. His former wife, of thirty-nine years and for whom he held great affection, Aileen Allard, resides in Springvale. His sister, Marguerite Kennedy and her husband David Kennedy live in Webster, Massachusetts. His brother John H. Mann resides in Bangor and sister Linda Mann in Auburn. He also had two nephews.Dad was a devoted father, always wanting what was best for his family. He was a kind, optimistic, and good man. He was very generous, always giving to others and at the very least he'd provide his time, a smile, and a sincerely kind word. He gave all he had and we will all miss him dearly. Visiting hours for George will be held Thursday, 6pm to 8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
