Geneva G. Grant

Geneva G. Grant, 97, of Lebanon, died on Saturday, February 19th, at the Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center in North Berwick.Geneva was born in Shapleigh on August 27, 1913 to Charles and Catherine (Smith) Goodwin and attended local schools, graduating from Lindsey High School in 1931. In 1934 she married Stuart Grant. They raised two children and spent the next 63 years together until his death in 1998.Geneva's life was dedicated to caring for her family. She was a devoted mother who always took excellent care of her family. She liked knitting and sewing and was a talented seamstress. When her children were young she took pride in making their clothing. She was a very good cook and always enjoyed making meals for her family. Geneva was a very religious woman and was a member of the North Lebanon Second Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Lebanon Grange, the York Pomona, the Maine State and National Grange. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Geneva was predeceased by her husband. Stuart Grant and by six siblings, Lillian, Edith, Myra, Blanche, Annie and Arthur "Jack."Surviving are two sons, Lysle E. Grant and his wife Marjorie of Dover, NH and Lawrence S. Grant and his wife Linda of Carmel, ME; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Grant, Rhonda Grant, Hollie Grant, Melinda Fisher and Jennifer Morse; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a special niece, Marilyn Emmons and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 23rd at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 24th. Interment will be in the spring at Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.Family flowers only please.
