Geary W. Knox, 82, of Shapleigh, died April 29, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.She was born a daughter of Frank E. and Elodia D. (Pray) Wright. Being a long time resident of Shapleigh, she attended Shapleigh Schools and Sanford High School. As a young teenager, Geary went to work at a boarding home to help support the family. A determined and hard worker, she worked at the Goodall Mills, Aletta Dress Shop in Springvale, the Value House in No. Berwick and Nike in Sanford. She was able to stay home to raise her family and then entered the workforce once again using her many talents from cooking for her large family. She was a cook with the Sabelis Restaurant and Mt. View Acres, retiring in her early 70's.Mrs. Knox enjoyed collecting dolls. She was a gifted seamstress, making clothes, quilts and stuffed animals. She made dolls for her collection and to share with friends and family. Other hobbies included refinishing furniture, woodworking and she enjoyed flower gardening, but her greatest love was caring for her family and enjoying her grandchildren.She is survived by three sons: Leon Knox of Shapleigh, Frank Knox of Limerick; and Gary Knox of New Hampshire. Three daughters: Doris Bemis of Sanford; Julie Hall of North Berwick and Gay Weyland of Acton. One sister: Rachel "Ginny" Conley of Shapleigh.24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 2 nieces.She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph L. Knox and by two sons, Harvey and Danny.Calling hours will be held Monday, May 3rd. from 6 - 8 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Rev. Virginia Gass.Burial will follow at Highland Grove Cemetery in No. Shapleigh.
