Gail A. Bodge

March 3, 1943 ~ May 15, 2025

Gail A. Bodge, 82, of Acton, died at her home, on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Gail was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on March 3, 1943 to Harold and Beatrice (Isenstein) Liebovitz. In 1966 she married Raymond Bodge and together they raised two children and shared 50 wonderful years of marriage before his death in 2016.

Gail was a proud graduate of Notre Dame University where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Gail was a hard-working woman who always liked to keep herself busy. She began teaching, part-time at first while also driving a school bus. She, alongside Raymond, enjoyed farming and operating a used furniture and antique store in Epping, New Hampshire. Gail and Raymond both worked and played enthusiastically. They belonged to a motorcycle group called the Retreads, riding through all the provinces of Canada and in all the continental United States except Louisiana and Florida on their big Honda. Gail also served as a 4H leader for many years.

Upon retiring and experiencing an empty nest, Gail and Raymond built a new home in Acton on a large tract of land they had purchased. She also joined the Trafton Senior Center in Sanford where she enjoyed cooking for members, playing cards and calling bingo. When she wasn’t busy doing something at the Trafton Center, she could often be found volunteering at one of her other favorite places, the Sanford Performing Arts Center. Gail very much enjoyed visiting her camp, a small cottage which she and Ray bought unfinished on the water. They had a lot of fun finishing this together, as time and money allowed. Gail was a highly intelligent woman who had many interests, including gardening, reading, quilting, stained glass, and folk-art painting. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who took pride in both hard work and caring for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind two children, Lisa Marie Pimpare of Acton, Maine and Joseph Bodge of Epping, New Hampshire, and their significant others; two grandsons, Daniel and Kyle, and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Brooklyn.

At Gail’s request, there will be no formal services. A private interment will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale where she will be reunited with Raymond, her “soulmate forever”.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution in Gail’s name to the Trafton Senior Center 19 Elm Street, Sanford, Maine 04073, or the Sanford Performing Arts Center online at sanfordpac.org/donate/.
