Gabriel Villemure

Brother Gabriel (Percy) Villemure died at the Maine Medical Center, Portland on August 8, 2005 at the age of 75, 59 of which was spent in religious life.Brother Gabriel, son of Antony Villemure and Gracia Girard was born at Trois-Rivieres, Canada on May 29, 1930.He leaves behind a number of brothers and sisters: Mugette Villemure, Gilles Villemure, Lily Lanctot, Mireille Brison, Sister Constance of the Missionaries of Africa, Colette, Nicole, Denise Stuparyk, Dianne Martin, Pierre, Alain, Reine Lefreniere, Gaetanne Morin,He entered the juiniorate of Pointe-du-Lac on May 22, 1943 and the novitiate of Pointe-du-Lac, on August 15, 1946. He made his perpetual profession on July 8, 1952.His appointments and assignments were: 1949-Shawinigan, Immaculee-Conception School, teacher, 1962-Quebec, Morissette School, teacher, 1953-Trois Rivieres, Saint-Paul School, teacher, 1955-Pointe-du-Lac, Scolasticate, teacher, 1957-Sainte-Clotilde de Horton, Postulate, teacher, 1958-Pointe-du-Lac, Scholasticate, teacher, 1962-Pointe-du-Lac, Saint-Joseph House, rest, 1963-La Prairie, Infirmary, Assistant to the Director, 1975-La Prairie, Infirmary, Director, 1997-Alfred, ME, USA, pastoral work to the elderly.Brother Gabriel taught in the Mauricie sector of Quebec mainly in the centers of formation of the future religious of his community. Later as Director of the La Prairie infirmary, he spent over 20 years in devoted service to his sick confreres. In 1997 he devoted himself to the elderly in the Biddeford area.A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday August 13 at the Brother's Chapel at Notre Dame, Shaker Hill Road, Alfred, where relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the mass. A funeral mass and burial will take place on Wednesday August 17 in La Prairie, Canada. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
