Frederic K. Lane, 47, of Waterboro, died December 15, 2003 at his homeOn Buff Brook Road.He was born in Peterborough, NH July 22, 1956, son of Dr. J. Perry andConstance V. (Gould) Lane and attended Gloucester High School, inGloucester, Massachusetts. MKC(Ret) Lane was a loving father who enjoyed home improvement projectsand spending time with his wife and children.MKC(Ret) Lane was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as anoutside marine machinist. He was highly regarded as a senior mechanic,working on nuclear submarines, weapons system repairs, and overhaul andrepair of major valves and components.Serving with the Coast Guard for 20 years, he retired with the rank ofChief Machinery Technician. MKC(Ret) Lane attended classes inYorktown, Virginia, specializing in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Heserved along the coast of Maine and worldwide, manning lighthouses onManana Island and Boothbay Harbor, LORAN stations at Kargabarun, Turkeyand L'Estartit, Spain, serving aboard the USCG Buoy Tender Duane ofBoothbay Harbor, ME, USCGC Campbell of New Bedford, MA, and USCGCSpencer of Boston, MA. Survivors include his wife, Wendy (Rogerson) Lane of Waterboro; his sonand daughter, Ryan and Samantha Lane of Waterboro; His parents Dr. J.Perry and Constance V. (Gould) Lane, of Nova Scotia; and threebrothers: James, John, and Patrick Lane. Also by his son, Andrew Gowen.A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2003 at theFirst Free Will Baptist Church, 105 Church Road, Brunswick ME at 1 PM,with Rev. Wally Farnum, officiating. A reception will immediatelyfollow the service. Burial with full military honors will be heldlater in the spring.
