Franklin Whitten

SanfordFranklin L. Whitten, 86 of Sanford, ME died Thursday evening February 7 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mr. Whitten was born on April 10, 1915 in Hollis, ME. He was the son of William and Elizabeth Whitten.Mr. Whitten was an avid outdoorsman, and his love of nature was complemented by his work as a woodsman. He sincerely enjoyed caring for animals and even had a pet skunk at one time. His love of the land also led him to gardening. He was said to have had an enormous rhubarb patch.Making others laugh was also a part of his daily routine. Mr. Whitten enjoyed the company of others and always had a smile for everyone.Predeceasing him is his wife Florence (Pollock) Whitten.Surviving are two sons, William of Waterboro, and Albert of Sanford. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.A graveside service for Mr. Whitten will be held in the spring of 2002.
