Francois O. Sevigny
Francois O. Sevigny, 87, of Springvale, passed away on Friday June 7, 2013 following a brief illness at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Springvale on February 2, 1926 a son of the late, Frank and Aurore (Carignan) Sevigny. He attended the former Notre Dame School in Springvale.He served in the US Army during WWII where he was a recipient of several medals including the Bronze Star. Following the war he began working in the family business as a painter and eventually specialized as a wall paper hanger. This trade and skill was passed on to him by his father. Upon his father's death at a young age, Francois and his brother Omer continued the growth of the business. At the time of his retirement he was self employed still specializing in his trade.After retirement he kept himself busy occupied with outdoor hobbies and activities. He was involved helping his children whenever they needed things fixed. He was very proud to be a Pepere to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed baseball and was an avid Red Sox Fan.A lifelong communicant of Notre Dame Parish he was also a member of the Sanford American Legion Post.He is predeceased by one son, Gerard Sevigny, brothers, Omer Sevigny, Ernest Sevigny, Albert Sevigny, Roger Sevigny, sisters, Irene Martel and Alma D'Orvilliers.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alberta (Melanson) Sevigny of Springvale, children, Richard F. Sevigny and his wife, Elaine of Sanford, Ann S. Tuttle and her husband, John of Sanford, Paula C. Sevigny of Springvale, Carol A. Sevigny of Springvale, Donald M. Sevigny of Springvale, grandchildren, Karen E. Williams, Michelle S. Gagnon and her husband, Patrick, Thomas R. Sevigny and his wife, Julie, James P. Sevigny and his fiance, Ashley, Meghan S. Tuttle and fiance, Wesley, 10 great grandchildren, sisters, Bertha Lavertu, Aurore Beland and Claire Allaire.A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale.
