Frances G. Mathieu

Frances G. Mathieu, 83, of Alfred, a longtime resident of Sanford, died August 6 at The Pavilion in Sanford after a long illness.She was born in Springvale on August 22, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Lozier) Michaud and attended Notre Dame School.She was employed over the years in local shoe shops and then in the cafeteria at the H. D. Goodall Hospital from which she retired many years ago.She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Springvale.Her hobbies included oil painting, crocheting and playing cards.Frances was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Mathieu in 1977 and by a daughter, Susan Perron in 2001.Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Johnson and her husband Glenn of Sanford, a brother, Robert Michaud and his wife Pat of Gray, 3 sisters, Cecile Portrie of Sanford, Helen George of Moultonboro, NH, Anita Winters of Florida, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 14 at 11:00 AM at the Notre Dame Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, 10 Payne Street, Springvale.
