Frances G. DeRosie, 74, of 18 Curry Lane, Alfred, died Friday, December 17, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford following a long illness. She was born in Hanover, NH on October 3, 1930, the daughter of Ernest and Hattie (Palmer) Harvey.She was a 1948 honors graduate of Springfield, VT, High School. Following high school, Mrs. DeRosie worked as a receptionist for a Springfield insurance agent for many years. She then worked as a Chiropractic assistant for a local doctor. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for the former Great Eastern Manufacturing Company and retired as a Chiropractic assistant in 1978.While living and raising her family in Springfield, she was also a former member of Moose Ladies Auxiliary and Hawks Mountain Grange #499 in Perkinsville, VT.In 1986 she moved to Alfred to be closer to family. She loved to dance and was a former member of the Shaker Valley Squares. She also loved to knit and crochet, making many socks, sweaters, hats and afghans in her spare time. She also used to make samples for a woolen company.Besides her husband of 56 years, Charles A. DeRosie of Alfred, she is survived by a son, William E. and Barbara DeRosie of Springvale; a daughter, Elizabeth and Martin Blow of Alfred; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Rev. Ken Keating, pastor of the Springvale First Baptist Church, will officiate.For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Alfred Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 235, Alfred, ME 04002.
