Roberts, 98, of Sanford, Maine died Friday December 27, 2002 at The Newton Center in Sanford.She was born inn Flagstaff, Maine on July 22, 1904 the daughter of Rutherford and Mary (Gould) Taylor. She was a graduate of Farmington High School and The Farmington Normal School.Mrs. Roberts was a teacher for 27 years having taught in South Portland, Waterboro, Shapleigh and Lebanon. While teaching in South Portland she was responsible for Supervising student teachers from the Gorham Normal School.Mrs. Roberts was the captain of the basketball and tennis teams at The Farmington Normal School.She love to travel cross country and has been a resident of this area for 68 plus years.She is survived by her sons Bruce R. Roberts of Sanford, Dr. Franklin L. Roberts of Portland; a daughter Joyce R. Owen of Tolland, CT; 11 grandchildren and 18 greatGrandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews.Mrs. was predeceased by her husband Lewis; two brothers Ralph Taylor and Birchard Taylor; a sister Everdene Taylor; a daughter Carol Roberts; a granddaughter Bonnie Lucente.Relatives and friends may call from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Sunday at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale, where a funeral will be held 11:00 AM on Monday.Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to The Newton Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care's Activity Fund 20 July Street Sanford, Maine 04073.
