Florence M. Lavallee

Florence M. Lavallee, 83, of Sanford, died January 11 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a lengthy respiratory illness.She was born on July 24, 1921 in Ham Nord, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Adelard and Aline (Tardif) Ruel.Florence came to the Sanford area as a young child and was educated in local schools. She married William E. Lavallee on July 4, 1942 and became a US citizen in 1951. He died on February 4, 1972.She worked hard her entire life at several local textile and shoe shops, retiring from Tennford Weaving.Florence is survived by a son Paul Lavallee and his wife Brenda of New Gloucester, 2 daughters, Paula Sanborn of Cornish, Pauline Patch and her husband Wayne of Sanford with whom she resided since 1972, 4 grandchildren, Lucas Patch and his wife Candy of Sanford, Cara Patch and her partner Allan Bullard of North Berwick, Jennifer Sanborn of Portland, Charles Lavallee and his wife Kim of New Gloucester, and several great grandchildren including Brandon and Alexis Bullard in whom she took special joy.At Florence's request, there will be no services at this time. A committal service will be conducted in the spring in Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial contributions be made to her favorite charity: National Shrine of St. Jude-Claretian Missionaries, 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606.
