Evalena Frances Spinney

Evalena F. Spinney, 86, who resided with her daughter, Colleen White, of Shapleigh, died peacefully October 25, 2003 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.She was born in Gilmore, Florida January 12, 1918 the daughter of Fred and Lena (Brown) Peaslee and grew up in Florida and later in Raymond, NH.In her later teen years, she met and married Harold Spinney and together shared 59 years of marriage before his death in 1993. Together, they raised their family in Eliot and Kittery.Mrs. Spinney was a homemaker who was extremely devoted to her children. She was present and active in their daily lives. A wonderful cook, she would make special treats and meals for her children and grandchildren. An animal lover, she loved her cats and her 3 St. Bernard dogs. Mrs. Spinney rode horses and will be remembered for her feisty spirit and traditional values. For over 40 years, Evalena was a true advocate and caregiver to her granddaughter, Chena who suffered with profound mental retardation. Survivors include two daughters: Colleen White of Shapleigh, ME and Marilene Hebert of Dover, NH. Also, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29th. At 2 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, with Rev. Virginia Gass, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot, Maine.There will be no calling hours.Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc. P.O.
