ETHELYN CARPENTERSpringvaleEthelyn Carpenter, widow of Harold E. Carpenter of Springvale, passed on peacefully on March 26 at her home of 75 years with her beloved family by her side.She celebrated her 100th birthday last June with her family and twin sister, Evelyn Waddington.Mrs. Carpenter was born on June 8, 1904 in Alfred, a daughter of Arthur and Linnie Burbank. She spent her youth in Alfred and attended school there.In 1959, when her cherished husband Harold E. Carpenter, a local businessman well known for his community service passed on, her daughter Marjorie Morrison, her husband Roger and children made their home with her. They shared many years of happy companionship.Mrs. Carpenter was a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, MA, and a branch church, the Christian Science Society in Sanford.She leaves her five children, Marjorie Morrison of Springvale, Eleanor Hall and her husband Mike of Sanford, Betty Hayes of Wells, Hazen Carpenter and his wife Connie of Springvale, and Doris Page of Sanford. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, her beloved twin sister, nieces and nephews,The family is most grateful to their sister Marjorie for her devotion and loving care of their mother these past years.It was Mrs. Carpenter's wish that there be no formal funeral services, but rather a private family gathering for prayers and happy shared memories.Arrangements are through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
