Esther McClain

Esther Frances Remy McClain, 79, of Satellite Beach, Florida, a victim of Alzheimer's disease, departed this earth on February 21, 2016 in Siler City, North Carolina. Esther was born in Springvale Maine on October 9, 1936 to Victor Remy and Rachel Provencal Remy, both of which predeceased her. After Catholic high school she attended and graduated from Nasson College in Springvale. Her marriage to Richard Maurice Gallant produced five children and eleven grandchildren. Esther was a devout Catholic, active in Our Lady of Lourdes and later Ascension Catholic, both in Melbourne FL. During her second marriage to Col. Charles Joseph McClain, she was active in Ascension and St. Mary's in Rockledge FL. Esther was active in her community as well. She was an active protester in the successful effort to close the abortion clinic in Melbourne. She served many years as a volunteer usher at the King Center, as a poll watcher and as a volunteer at the Ascension Thrift Shop/Food Bank and for several years was an avid Red Hatter. Esther was a successful gardener, a mall walker and a charity walker. She enjoyed her bicycle, loved time at the beach hunting shells and travelling was high on her list of to do's. She loved her family and was proud of her French-Canadian heritage. She was loved and will be missed.Surviving are five children, Mark Gallant and his wife Marian, Cathy Gallant and her companion Jose Bergna, Lisa Genovese and her husband Joe, Alice Krall and her husband Scott, Charles Gallant and his wife Heidi: eleven grandchildren, Brad, Trevor, Brittany, Taylor Rose, Brandon, Melissa, Joey, Allison, Michael, Matthew and Katie; she is also survived by four brothers, George Remy of Biddeford, Tom Remy of Texas, Jimmy Remy of Florida and Frankie Remy of Florida; a sister, Hedwidge Remy Graham of Chicago and an extended family throughout the U.S. and Canada. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 7th at St Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church located on Payne Street in Springvale. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
