Ernest J. Gove

Pompano Beach, FLErnest J. Gove Jr., 77, of Pompano Beach, FL, died May 18, 2003, at his home surrounded by family.Mr. Gove was born on February 28, 1926, the son of Ernest J. Sr. and Selina Boileau Gove.Mr. Gove was a graduate of Dover High School and a WWII veteran. He owned and operated the Pine Crest gas station where he worked as a mechanic on automobiles. He also was a fine craftsman and did many mechanical and woodworking jobs on boats. Mr. Gove was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed collecting guns and spending time with his dogs.Mr. Gove enjoyed going up to his camp in Northern Maine where he would spend much of his time fishing, hunting and enjoying nature.Surviving Mr. Gove is his wife of 36 years, Anne Gove of Pompano Beach, FL, a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Guillemette and her husband Joseph of Sanford; two sons, Ernest J. "Jack" Gove III and his wife Debbie, of North Berwick; Manley Gove and his wife Linda, of South Berwick; two sisters, Theresa King and Jean, both from Texas; 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.A period of visitation from 6 to 8 PM will be held on Friday, May 23, at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME. Friends are invited to meet the family at 11 AM Saturday May 24th for a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family R.C. Church of Sanford. Committal services will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
