Elnah Edith Kelloway

Elnah E. Kelloway, 89, resident of Shapleigh for the past 22 years, died February 27, 2004 at the Newton Center in Sanford, Maine.She was born May 6, 1914 in Wakefield, MA a daughter of John Edwin and Marion (Saunders)Beyea. Elnah graduated in 1932 from Wakefield High School. She worked with different families within the area as an attendant and housemate. Elnah married Albert Kelloway on July 8, 1935 in Salem, New Hampshire. Together, they bought a service/gas station in Georgetown in 1946. For 37 years, they worked many hours keeping Kelloway's Variety and Exxon open. Their vacations were often scheduled every 5 years when the gas pumps needed upgrading. Mrs. Kelloway was devoted to her family. Her first love was caring for her family and she continued that extension of love to her siblings. Many of them received help and encouragement through out the years. A woman with an independent spirit, Mrs. Kelloway would take care of the books, ordering for the store and yet was not opposed to pumping gas for a customer.In the early 80's, Mr. and Mrs. Kelloway made Maine their primary residence. She attended the First Baptist Church in Shapleigh. Survivors include her husband, Albert Kelloway of Shapleigh; a son, Rev. Randall Kelloway of Wales, Maine and her daughter, Barbara Dubin of Bokeela, Florida. Four grandchildren: Greg Smith and Debbie Clymer both of W. Hartford, Conn and Rachel and Richard Kelloway of Wales, Maine.One sister, Louise Bucchio of Pelham, NH. Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Stanley and Alvin "Buddy" Beyea and her sister, Gladys Beyea.Friends and family may call at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 from 4 - 8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held later in May in Georgetown, Massachusetts. Memorial donations are encouraged to the Shapleigh First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 284., Shapleigh, Maine 04076.
