Ella Lovejoy Trafton, 75, died at her home in Acton on Tuesday morning, April 12, 2005.Mrs. Trafton was born in New Britain, CT on October 20, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Tait) Lovejoy. Ella grew up in the apple orchards of Acton, Maine. She was a 1947 graduate of Sanford High School. In 1951 she graduated from Nasson College with a degree in business science. On May 31, 1952 she married her husband, Roy J. Trafton. Throughout her life Ella lived and worked in many places including New Britain, Ct, Sandusky, OH, Bedford, MA, Boxford, MA, and Acton, MA. In 1999 she moved back home to Acton, Maine where she rejoined her many friends and became an active member of the Acton Congregational Church.Ella had many different interests including painting, playing bridge, sewing and crocheting. She also took a special interest in genealogy. She was able to trace back the family roots for both the Lovejoy and the Trafton families. History was also important to Mrs. Trafton. She was an active member of the Acton-Shapleigh Historical Society. She would share local history with the children at the Shapleigh Memorial School during their annual visits.Mrs. Trafton will be remembered for her great memory of people and places, her pies, her lust for picking blueberries, abilities as a bridge partner, her great intellect and interest in the world around her.Surviving are her husband, Roy J. Trafton of Acton, ME; two daughters, Martha (Trafton) and William Nicol of Northborough, MA and Joan (Trafton) and Mark Hill of Keene, NH; one son, Roy Winfield Trafton of Brockport, NY; two sisters, Irene Dean of Machesney Park, IL and Isabel Stitson of Falmouth, ME; seven grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.A period of visitation will be held at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine on Friday, April 15, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM at the funeral home on Saturday, April 16, 2005. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Springvale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Nasson Community Center, 457 Main Street, Springvale, ME 04083.
