ELIZABETH "LIBBY" DeWITTSpringvaleElizabeth "Libby" DeWitt, 83, of Springvale, died January 30 at home.She was born in Newton, MA on July 14, 1922, the daughter of Anthony and Margueritte (Allegro) Feola. She attended Newton schools, was a graduate of Newton High School and a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston.A lifelong volunteer with a special love for animals, she did service for the Red Cross and the Children's Hospital of Boston. She served with the Watauga County Animal Shelter in Boone, NC, was a contributing member of the Humane Society of the United States, and a sponsor member of the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals in So. Windham.She was a volunteer head housekeeper for the Green Acre Baha'i School in Eliot, and taught the Baha'i faith to many young people.She loved her country home which was open to all creatures great and small. Her home was a haven for many animals: dogs, cats, horses and ducks. She was a gracious hostess to all who visited and was quite the cook.Survivors include 2 daughters, Marguerite DeWitt, MD, JD of Augusta, Lisa F. DeWitt of Springvale, and a granddaughter Allegra Torres of Springvale.A committal service was held on February 1 in Newton Cemetery in Newton, MA. Arrangements are through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Memorial contributions may be made to the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, P. O.
