Elizabeth Mary Bickford, 73, well known professional and friend, died June 6, 2004 at Sanford Health Care Center following a brief illness.She was born December 17, 1930 in Alfred a daughter of Caleb and Helen (Wiggin) Burbank and graduated from Alfred High School with the Class of 1949. Betty obtained a business degree from Nason College. Through out her employment with Sanford Institution for Savings Bank, Mrs. Bickford took several banking classes. A dedicated and loyal employee, she started out as a teller and worked her way up through management to Treasurer. She enjoyed 29 years of full time employment and following retirement, worked part time for another 6 years.Betty enjoyed her home and making it inviting for her many friends and family members. She loved her flower gardens. Betty liked taking drives in her jeep with her dog, Sasha a mixed terrier breed. Walks on the beach, shopping at the mall and spending time with her grandchildren made her a happy woman. She also enjoyed doing many different crafts including cross-stitch and crewel. A "people person" - Betty was active within her hometown of Alfred and attended the Alfred Parish Church and in recent years, the 1st. Baptist Church in Sanford.Survivors include one son: Stephen R. Bickford, Sr. of Alfred. Three grandchildren: Stephen R. Bickford, Jr. of Sanford; Tiffany Moran and Eric Booth both of Sanford.Two great-grandchildren: Caleb and AmaDeus Moran of Sanford. Two sisters: Marsha Clark of Kentucky and Doris Shank of Florida. Also, three nephews: Richard E Burbank, Jr. of Sanford; Brian and Allan Clark both of Kentucky. Three nieces: Linda Gendron of Connecticut, Carol Grande and Jeannie of Florida. And, several grand nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by two brothers: Caleb Burbank, Jr and Richard E. Burbank, Sr. and one niece: Brenda Lamarre.A Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1:00 pm at the Alfred Parish Congregational Church, Alfred with Rev. Bruce Burnham, officiating.
