SHAPLEIGH—Elizabeth Ann Adams, 74, of Shapleigh, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday June 30, 2024 in Portsmouth.
She was born December 15, 1949 in Quincy, Massachusetts the daughter of Charles and Mary (Kehoe) Hirtle. She grew up in Quincy and graduated from North Quincy High School. Elizabeth Married Paul Adams in 1970 and she worked as an accountant at Howard Johnson’s for a time. They moved to Maine in 1987 and the two of them worked at Spencer Press in Wells.
When she wasn’t working, Elizabeth enjoyed cross stitch, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a Den Mother for her son’s Scout troop and spent time as an Assistant Coach.
Elizabeth was predeceased by a daughter, Gabrielle.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, Sr.; her children, Paul Adams, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Shapleigh, Jeffrey Adams and his wife Crystal of Lebanon, Shawna Lanteigne of Sebago and Patrick Adams and his wife Nicole of Haverhill, MA; her siblings, Richard Hirtle and Peggy Brangiforte; her grandchildren, Colby, Regan, Nealey, Cory, Alexis, Sean, Summer, Skyler, Savannah, Payton, Patrick, Jr., Seth, Phil, Jaden and Aria as well as ten great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale on Thursday July 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday the 19th at11:30 am. Burial will be in the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
She was upbeat and kind.
I always wanted to be like her in that respect.
Betty was my sister-in-law.
She was loving. She loved her children and she was proud of all of them.
Yes. She was kind to all she met.

When I first met you I knew I liked you right away. You were so sweet
and spunky and cute.I have always been happy that you were
part of our family.

When she came to our house. I think that was when Leslie was
a friend of hers. Maybe before Paul met her.
she was my wonderful,silly, sweet aunt who got and understood my wierd out of the box thinking and always supportive . I’ll miss her but ,will always remember her kind soul.
Betty fit right into our family from the very beginning. She was the best thing that ever happened to my brother Paul. From her came dozens of other lives. She was the most emotionally healthy woman I knew and her even kale nature produced a stable, loving environment for her family. I will miss you my dear Betty. Love, your brother-in-law Mark.
Mom I miss you and love you. But I know you are with Jesus and Gabby. I will never forget all you have done for me and my crew. I will see you again and I love you.

Always caring. Loved all of her grandchildren! If she only had a dollar, and you had nothing. She would have given it you. So so loving
