Elisabeth J. Marshall

Elisabeth J. Marshall, 77 years old of Alfred, ME died Friday January 17, 2003 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Bremen, Germany, a daughter of Frederick "Fritz" and Irmgard Christel Gruner. She attended schools in Germany and moved to the United States as a war bride with her first husband Carl M. Jordan in 1948. Mr. Jordan died in 1957. Along with her second husband, Sumner B. Marshall Jr., who also predeceases her, they owned and operated Marshall's Country Store in Alfred for 13 years. Mrs. Marshall was a member of the Alfred Parish Church, and was a sports enthusiast, active in skiing, tennis and swimming. Surviving is a son Carl F. Jordan of Boothbay, two daughters, Charlotte J. Jones of Alfred and Barbara J. Jordan of Scarborough. Also surviving is a step-son Sumner B. Marshall III, a step-daughter, Ann M. Bean, a brother Eberhard Gruner and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Tuesday January 21st family and friends are invited to attend an 11:00 AM memorial service at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME.
