Elinor B. Harrison

Sanford, MaineElinor B. Harrison, 82, of Sanford, Maine died December 24, 2002 at The Newton Center in Sanford.She was born in Sanford on November 23, 1920 the daughter of Corliss and Inez (Andrews) Bodwell, and was a 1938 graduate of Sanford High School and a graduate of Nasson College. While at Sanford High she was the first female athlete to letter in five varsity sports.She was the executive secretary to the administrator of The Goodall Hospital in Sanford for 15 years, and was also a secretary for other businesses in the area.Mrs. Harrison was a past Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the College Club of Sanford, member of The Order of The Eastern Star and a member of The Searchlight Club, and a member of the Nasson College Alumni Assoc..She was an Honorary Board Corporator for Sanford Institution for Savings. , and was a volunteer for The American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery Campaign. Mrs. Harrison was also a member of the Lunch Bunch of the Springvale First Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband of 30 years Winston Harrison of Sanford; a son Douglas Henderson and his wife Anne of Shapleigh, Maine; a daughter Donna Cain of Seymour, CT; a step son Bruce Harrison of Sanford; a step daughter Debra Harrison of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren Wendi Cain, Scott Cain, Sean Henderson, Jess Boissonneault, Cynthia Henderson and Kristin Barrett; 5 great grandchildren Micaela Cain, Aidan Cain, Jonathan Cain, Molly Boissonneault and Sara Boissonneault. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine.
