Eleanor L. Moulton

Eleanor L. Moulton, 95, of Springvale, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brief illness.Eleanor was born in Springvale on February 8, 1916 to Elliott and Marguerite (Webber) Lavoie and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1934. On May 30, 1937, she married Harland D. Moulton and they spent the next 63 years together until his death in 2000. The couple lived briefly in North Berwick and then moved to North Shapleigh in 1939. While they were living in North Shapleigh they worked as plane spotters during World War II. They returned to Springvale in 1942 where Eleanor lived for the rest of her life.Eleanor worked for the Sanford School Lunch Program at the Lincoln School for 30 years until retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Springvale Fire Department, a 50 plus year member of Ruth Chapter #14 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Springvale First Baptist Church where she was involved in the SORORES Class, Sereco, the women's fellowship, Blue Triangle and was a member of the choir for many years. Eleanor loved to go out walking and could often be seen taking her daily walks down Main Street and Pleasant Street in Springvale. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and collecting recipes. She was also a tree farmer and was a member of S.W.O.A.M. Eleanor will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Surviving are her son, David W. Moulton and his wife Judith of Burke, VA; two granddaughters, Susan E. M. Brown and her husband Alexander H. of Clifton, VA and Nancy L. Akison and her husband Dana of Columbus, OH; a grandson, Scott D. Moulton and his wife A. Michelle of Charlotte, NC; three great grandchildren, Christopher and Cassidy Brown of Clifton, VA and Sienna Moulton of Charlotte, NC; two brothers-in-law Norman Moulton and his wife Barbara and Harold Moulton and his wife Karin; a special nephew, Jerry MacConnell and his wife Judy of Springvale and numerous other nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with an Order of the Eastern Star Service being held at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 18th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
