Eleanor S. Lawrence

Parsonsfield, MaineEleanor S. Lawrence, 94, of Parsonsfield, Maine, died Sunday March 23, 2003 at The Gorham House in Gorham, Maine.She was born in North Plainfield, New Jersey on August 8, 1908 she was the daughter of Edgar and Loretta (Darby) Sheppard. Mrs. Lawrence taught school in New Jersey for several years.Her and her husband William F. Lawrence Sr., who died in 1994 summered at their camp in Parsonsfield since 1935. They purchased a home there in 1950 and summered there until they moved permanently in the mid 1960's. Wherever she lived she was very active in the local churches. She was accomplished at sewing, knitting and crochet. Mrs. Lawrence especially loved to be a homemaker, enjoying cooking and baking.She was an avid reader who enjoyed golfing and politics. Mrs. Lawrence was a volunteer at local hospitals where she lived throughout the years. She was a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution.She is survived by a son William F. Lawrence of Massapequa, NY; a daughter Susan L. Fleming of Latham, NY; four grandchildren Theresa Hanson of Latham, NY, Kathleen Stein of Loudonville, NY, Brian Lawrence of Richmond, VA and Wendy Lawrence of Jamestown, NC; five great grandchildren Anthony Tasso of Latham, NY, Brianna Stein of Loudonville, NY, Ethan, Carter and Autumn Lawrence all of Richmond, VA.Relatives and friends may call from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine where a funeral will be held at 2:00 PM also on Wednesday. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to an Educational Institution of one's choice.
