Eleanor L. Bernier

Eleanor L. Bernier, 89 years old, of Sanford, ME, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 in Kennebunk, ME.Mrs. Bernier was born on September 3, 1915 in Sanford, ME. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Bertha Brierley Butler. She attended local schools, and is a graduate of the Sanford High School class of 1932.For 21 years Mrs. Bernier worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone in Sanford. When Sanford went to a dial system Mrs. Bernier transferred to Biddeford; where she worked for another 17 years until retiring in 1979 as supervisor. Mrs. Bernier was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church, a life member of the Pioneers of America, and the United Methodist Women. Predeceasing Mrs. Bernier in 1973 was her husband Henry L. Bernier, and their daughter Linda Wood in 1975.Surviving is her daughter Judith Boisse and her husband Andre of Arundel, ME, a stepson John H. Bernier and his wife Dotty of Acton; five grandchildren, Sean Garron, Douglas Garron, Tracy Spencer, Christine Bernier, Lisa Bernier, and five great-grandchildren.Visiting hours for Mrs. Bernier will be held on Monday, April11, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale, ME; where funeral services will be held on Tuesday the 12th at 11:00 AM. Committal service will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Crossroads United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 290, Sanford, ME 04073.
