Eleanor R. Bell, 83, of Main Street, Sanford died June 4, 2004 at Goodall Hospital following a period of failing health.She was born September 10, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio a daughter of Harvey R. and Evangelin M. (O'Brian) Singer and was raised and educated in Ohio. She lived in Michigan, Alabama and made Maine her home in 1991. On September 15, 1937, Eleanor married Claude Bell and celebrated 48 years of marriage before his death, Dec. 31, 1984. Mrs. Bell was a homemaker who took great pleasure in caring for her husband and family. A wonderful cook, she made homemade meals, bread, butter, cookies and pies. A gift to her family members and friends were many knitted gifts and afghans.She attended the First Baptist Church in Sanford.Survivors include two brothers: James Singer of Cincinnati, Ohio and Larry Rittenhouse of Fenton, Michigan; two sons, Richard Bell, Sr. of Maine and Thomas Bell of Palmetto, Florida. Also, 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and by two sons: Gerald and Harry Bell. Also, by three sisters: Dorothy Whitcare, Donna Lambert and Margaret Ann Baker.Graveside Services will be held Monday, June 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. At Forest Lawn Cemetery of Dexter, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 250, Sanford, ME 04073.
