Edward Hartley Seadale
Edward Hartley Seadale, D.D.S.Dr. Edward Hartley Seadale, 84, of Seadale Lane, Newfield, ME died suddenly at his home on July 2, 2011. Edward was born on April 26, 1927 in New York, NY. In 1944, at the age of 17, Ed enlisted in the Cadet Naval Air Program of the U.S. Naval Air Force where he served to the end of WWII. With the start of the Korean War, he was recalled back to the Pilot Training Program of the U.S. Air Force. Edward was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts where he became a bacteriologist/virologist research instructor, publishing many research papers. In 1956 he entered McGill University, Faculty of Dentistry, Montreal, Quebec. He practiced dentistry for 30 years in Cohasset, MA. During his practice Ed served as the President of the New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is also a Brother at the Amherst, MA Masonic Lodge, and a member of the American Legion. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Gunner Seadale and Kathleen Seadale and his brother, Charles Seadale of West Palm Beach, FL. He is survived by his wife, Anne Chapman Seadale, his best friend with whom he shared fifty-seven passionate years in a marriage of complete mutual devotion, compassion and unconditional love. Ed and Anne enjoyed many years of Round Dancing with many close and cherished friends as members of The B & B Dancers, Let's Dance and Mix 'n' Mingle Square Dance Club. Ed often joked that he married the farmer's daughter but he wasn't a farmer. However, he took great pleasure in tending his orchids. Edward is also survived by his son, Edward H. Seadale Jr. and his wife Lorie of Barton, VT; daughter, Lisa Healy of Franklin, MA; and his pride and joy granddaughter, Kristen T. Seadale of Newark, VT.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 3PM at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home, 508 Main Street, Springvale, ME.
