Edward T. Clarke, Sr., 62, of Loon Pond, Acton died unexpectedly on May 23 while traveling home from Europe.He was born in Brighton, MA on May 28, 1942, a son of Paul G. and Emily (Landry) Clarke. He was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School in Revere, MA and of Boston University.He served with US Coast Guard during the Viet Nam era.He owned and operated Broadway Family Shoe Store in Revere for several years. He then worked in the waste disposal industry, first with Howard Disposal in Boston, for SCA, for Banfield Associates, and finally for Waste Management where he served as the general manager for medical waste at their Hudson, NH facility. He retired and moved permanently to his summer home on Loon Pond in 1996. In his retirement, he briefly owned and operated the Strawberry Patch Restaurant in Springvale.While a resident of Revere, he was a member of the Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus, and was a Boy Scout leader. He lived in Saugus, MA for several years and served as a Town Meeting member there.He was a communicant of St. Mary's Parish in Revere.Family was most important to Eddie. He especially enjoyed cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a foster parent to several children some years ago.He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, David Clarke.Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Roberta (Dymsza) Clarke of Acton, 2 sons, Edward T. Clarke, Jr. and his fiancee Lisa Cote of Acton, Robert P. Clarke and his wife Linda of Milford, NH, 2 daughters, Tracie Kacmarcik and her husband Bob of Hampton, NH, Lori Clarke and her companion Cushman Phillips, IV of Acton, his 9 grandchildren, Alyssa, Ronnie, Lauren, Meaghan, Brendan, Ryan, Devon, Tyler and Connor, 2 brothers, Paul Clarke of Saugus, MA, Richard Clarke of Acton, a sister, Thelma Keefe of Salem, NH and his mother and father in law, Robert and Mary Dymsza of Revere, MA and Acton.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. The family will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 12:00 noon and proceed to Holy Family Church in Sanford for the celebration of a funeral mass at 1:00 PM.A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Revere, Mass.Memorial contributions may be made to Friendraising, York Hospital, 15 Hospital Drive, York, ME 03909.
