Edward S. Brice

Edward S. Brice, 83, resident of Biddeford for the past 26 years, died September 4, 2004 at St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford following a brief illness. He was born April 27, 1921 in Oxford, Maine a son of Edward S. and Cherilla O. (Cobb) Bryce and attended local schools. Mr. Brice made his home in the Limerick, Limington area for over 50 years. Ed was a hard worker and held a variety of jobs that brought new adventures and responsibilities. He was most proud of working as a special officer with the Biddeford department. He worked as a crossing guard for the Sanford and Biddeford School Districts. Also, for the Geological Survey Department with the mapping division in Sanford and surrounding towns. He worked in the security division of Shaw's Warehouse in Wells and also for the Waterboro Tannery.He enjoyed being with his family, recalling past and present events. An avid "people watcher" - His apartment allowed him to enjoy the outside activity all from his favorite chair next to the window. He enjoyed day trips to Camden and taking in the views from Mt. Battie. Country & Western music played through out the day and he was a former member of the Conservation Civilian Camp in Camden. Ed took pleasure in feeding the squirrels and enjoyed all animals. He also attended the Salvation Army in Old Orchard Beach.Survivors include his wife, Cheryl (Crocker) Brice whom he married March 30, 1981. Also, one son, David E. Brice of Limington and daughter, Dorothy Wilson of Lewiston. One brother, Fred Bryce of Turner and one sister, Gertrude Tapley of Portland. 8 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren and many cousins.Three brothers and three sisters predeceased him.A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Village Cemetery on Pine Hill Road in Limington at 11:00 am with Major David Kelly, officiating.
