Edith J. Styles

ShapleighEdith J. Styles, 93 years old, of Shapleigh died Early Wednesday morning September 19, 2001 at the Greenwood center in Sanford.Mrs. Styles was born on March 9, 1908 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of John and Gertrude Koogle Caldwell.Mrs. Styles attended New York schools and was a former resident of Huntington, NY. In 1929 she was married to Edmond Styles. For many years Mrs. Styles worked for Standard Oil of New Jersey. In 1968 she retired as Vice President of the Meadowbrook Bank of Huntington, NY. However, most of her time was spent at home raising her family. It was in 1986 that they moved to Shapleigh.She enjoyed vacationing to Florida, particularly Venice Beach. She also enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, reading and cooking fabulous meals for her husband.A son, Robert Styles predeceases her.Surviving is her husband of 72 years Edmund Styles of Shapleigh, a daughter Marian L. Johnstone of Alfred, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is a niece Nancy Small of Shapleigh.A period of visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2001 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale; where funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2001.
