Dwight (Max) Smart, 73, of Acton, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026.

Dwight Douglas Smart was born on July 19, 1952, in Logan, Ohio, to Wayne and Betty (Donnelly) Smart.

He met the love of his life, Christine Doore, and the two were married in 1975. Together, they built a life rooted in love, dedication, and family, sharing more than 50 wonderful years side by side.

Dwight and Christine made their home in Charleston, Maine, where they spent many years before later relocating to Acton, Me to be closer to their growing family and cherished grandchildren.

Dwight found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time at the coast, relaxing on the porch, and working with his hands as a talented woodworker. An avid reader, and dog lover, he also will always be remembered for making the very best Thanksgiving stuffing—a tradition his family will forever hold dear.

Above all, Dwight was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Smart; daughter, Stacey Smart and her husband, Ryan Liepe; son, David Smart; four wonderful grandchildren, Austin and Dominic Pagnozzi, and Shayne and Leah Smart; two great-grandchildren Isabella and Tommy Pagnozzi; brother John Smart.

Dwight was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Paul and Marvin (Butch).

In accordance with Dwight’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A private family gathering will be held at a later time.

Dwight will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
