Douglas K. Merrill

Douglas "Doug" K. Merrill, 55, died November 30, 2003 in Shapleigh, Maine. He was born in Boston, August 11, 1948 a son of William E. and Ruth (Whight) Merrill and graduated from Foxboro High School with the Class of 1966. Mr. Merrill served during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Army. Doug worked for 23 years as a quality control inspector for Burgess Brothers Manufacturing in Canton, MA. Mr. Merrill enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Mousam Lake in Shapleigh, Maine. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing and riding his three-wheeler ATV. A "dyed in the wool" Patriots fan - Doug enjoyed watching sports and even routed for the Red Sox. Mr. Merrill spent time relaxing by using his computer. Mr. Merrill was a wonderful father; he took great pride in his three girls,Casey, Erin and Sarah. He was interested in their activities and spent time with each of them.Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Theresa Merrill and his three girls, Casey, Erin and Sarah all of Plainville, Ma; two brothers, William Merrill of San Francisco, CA and Glenn Merrill of Mansfield, MA. Also, his niece, Jeanne and nephew, David.
