Douglas Brown

Doug Brown, a beloved husband, stepfather, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on August 28, 1964, in Bridgton, Maine, Doug’s life was a complex tapestry woven with contrasting threads and held together in love, dedication, and joy.

Doug was the youngest son of the late E. Robert Brown and Constance Eagan Brown. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Elizabeth Brown, and is survived by his devoted wife, Debra Ann Goulet Brown, whom he married on September 14, 2013. Doug was also a loving stepfather to Michael and Kayla, and a proud grandfather to three adored grandchildren, Candace, Daniel and Bode. His siblings, Steven Brown, Robert Brown, and Brenda Brown Farris, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many more remain to celebrate his memory.

A graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School, Doug’s passion for life extended beyond the classroom. He excelled as a varsity baseball player and carried his love for the sport into adulthood as an avid Red Sox fan. His professional life was as dynamic as his personality, with a diverse career that spanned from building and grounds maintenance to credits as a lead set decorator on numerous television and feature films. Doug’s colleagues and friends fondly remember his exceptional sense of humor, artistic intuition and fierce loyalty.

Doug found solace and adventure in the great outdoors. He was happiest while fishing, camping, and hiking amidst the serene mountains, lakes, and rivers of western Maine. These pursuits reflected his deep appreciation for nature and his ability to find peace and happiness in its beauty.

Above all, Doug treasured his family, particularly his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His warmth and laughter left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A private funeral service will be held in his honor, respecting Doug’s wishes for a close and intimate farewell. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, who provided comfort and care during Doug’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, a place that held a special significance in Doug’s journey.

Doug’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered, as a man who embraced life with humor, loyalty, and love.
