Dorothy S. Mucci

Dorothy S. Mucci, 94, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the Newton Center in Sanford, where she had lived since 2003. She was born July 16, 1910 in Shapleigh a daughter of George W. and Iva (Muchmore) Stanley and attended local schools. Dorothy was a hard worker who left home to help support the family by working in the woolen mills. She started at the Goodall-Sanford Mills and went to the Sutton's Mills and worked till she was 62 years old, retiring from Brooks Woolen in Sanford. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sanford and belonged to the Ladies Group. Until her mid 70's, she enjoyed trips to California, Texas, Maryland and Florida.She was known as "Aunt Dot" to her many nieces and nephews as well as the local children in the neighborhood. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and playing cards.Dot is survived by a son: Ronald and Colleen Mucci of Shapleigh; a daughter, Shirley and Roland Goodwin of Springvale; a sister, Marion Brown of Meredith, NH; a brother, Carl Stanley of Shapleigh. 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Herbert Greims and by her second husband, Roland B. Mucci after 29 years of marriage; two sons: Rodney Greims and Richard Mucci and a daughter, Judy Mucci.Relatives and friends may call at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale on Monday, December 27, from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 28 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Virginia Gass, pastor of the Sanford First Baptist Church will officiate.
