Dorothy "Dot" Hussey, 90, longtime resident of Alfred died November 14, 2004 at her home. She was born in North Berwick, a daughter of Hosea S. and Muriel (Hooper) Phillips and attended Sanford Schools. She worked for many years at Jaggers Mill and then at Aletta Dress Shop in Sanford. Dot enjoyed her home and tending to her gardens, raising her chickens and selling eggs from her front porch. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Mrs. Hussey remained independent in her own home and still drove two to three times a week. She loved watching game shows and corresponding by cards and letters to her many friends. A real caregiver, Dot gave generously in caring for several relatives and friends.Survivors include two brothers, Martin Phillips of Middlebury, FL and Weston Phillips of No. Berwick. One sister, Lida Brown of Wells and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey R. Hussey in 1970. Also, by four brothers, Franklin, James, Herbert and Paul Phillips and four sisters, Winona Boston, Eleanor Rankin, Arita Morin and Irma Tibbets. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred at 11:00 am. There will be no calling hours. Memorial Donations may be made to the Parsons Memorial Library, P.O. Box 1065, Alfred, ME 04002.
