Dorothy Ann Freeland, 76, of 93 Morrison Road, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford, following a long illness. She was born in Fitchburg, MA, September 21, 1926, a daughter of Leon E. and Louise (Guichard) Foster. She attended Fitchburg schools and moved to Maine in 1945. Prior to that, she lived in Wells, then moved to Sanford and Springvale 47 years ago.Dorothy worked as a waitress and cook at several area restaurants including the Cozy Corner Restaurant, Atlantic Motor Inn, Hickory Pit and Valley's Steak House. She retired in the early 80's after nearly 30 years in the restaurant field.Together with her husband of 47 years, she enjoyed driving through the White and Green Mountains, and for the past few years they did that on almost every weekend. She loved to shop at the Wal-Mart in Littleton, NH, where she found the associates to be especially warm and friendly. Dorothy also enjoyed reading mysteries and was a John Wayne fan as well. She maintained an extensive inventory of movies on video tape, with over 1000 titles in her collection.When her family was growing up, she was a CCD teacher at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church here in Springvale.She is survived by her husband, George B. Freeland of Springvale; 2 sons, Paul Kimball, Jr. of Sanford and Kurt Kimball of Windham; 2 daughters, Deborah Daudier of Saco and Karen Tenney of Sanford; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday in Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford.
