Dorothy S. Bougie

Dorothy "Dot" S. Bougie, 77, of Alfred, passed away on Wednesday July 19, 2006 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. She was born in Sanford, Maine on October 16, 1928, a daughter of Warren A. and Esther M.(Morey) Sayward. She graduated from Sanford High School. She attended Simmons College and the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing.She worked at the former Sanford Goodall Mills. Later she owned and operated the Alfred Florist Shop. She then worked in Floral Design and Interior Decorating.Dot belonged to the Alfred Congregational Church, the Fern Chapter O.E.S. Order of Eastern Star and the AARP. She was a former member of the Maine State Floral Association.She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Rudolph "Rudy" Bougie who passed away on March 25, 1993, one sister, Frances Dudgeon.She is survived by two sons, John W. Bougie of New Sweden, Maine, Mark J. Bougie and his wife of North Hampton, NH, 5 grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Bougie of New Sweden, Maine, and Matthew, Kristen and Michael Bougie of North Hampton, NH.A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 22 at 11am at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th floor, New York, NY 10005 or to the Alfred Historical Foundation.Condolences may be expressed at the tab at left.
