Dorothea Virginia (Horne) Hill, 92, of Springvale, passed away peacefully at the Lodges Care Center on Saturday, August 3, 2013 where she had resided since March of 2013.Thea was born in Springvale on July 31, 1921 to Frederic Ivory and May Alice (Butler) Horne. She was born in the family home on Oak Street where she resided virtually her entire life. She graduated from Sanford High School with the Class of 1940. On November 20, 1941, she married the love of her life, James Truesdale Hill. Together they raised three children and shared 63 years of marriage until his death on July 31, 2005.After Thea raised her children she worked for several years at Nasson College in Springvale. She subcontracted as the upholsterer to Aerofab Inc. in Sanford, manufacturer of amphibious aircraft. She was a fabulous cook, baker and had a lifelong love of reading. She also enjoyed crewel work, counted cross stitch, needle point, knitting and braiding rugs. She was a civic minded woman and served on many boards and committees including the Springvale Ladies Fire Auxiliary, the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society, the Riverside Cemetery Board of Trustees, the Town Warrant Committee and as a Town Meeting member. She was also a member of the Embroiders' Guild of America. Thea will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.She was predeceased by her husband and by a granddaughter, Dorothea Hill and by her life-long friend Ginnie Brackett of Limington Ginnie passed away on June 2.Surviving are three children, Marjory Stonemetz and her husband Spencer of York, James Hill II and his wife Kaye of Windham and Margaret Vincent and her husband Ron of Sanford; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stonemetz Cray of Portsmouth, James Stonemetz of North Berwick, James Hill III and his wife Tara of Standish, Andrew Vincent of Portland and Steven Vincent and his wife Jennifer of Sanford and three great-granddaughters, Lydia and Eliza Hill and Kendall Vincent and step great-grandchildren Olivia and Zachary Brown.Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 7th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society, P.O.
