Dorothea M. 'Dottie' Bergeron, 73, formerly of Sanford and Florida, died March 17 at the home of her daughter in North Berwick.She was born in Kennebunk on March 8, 1932, a daughter of Joseph and Myrtle (Morris) Butler, and attended schools there.She had been employed in the cafeteria at the Sanford Junior High School.She and her husband recently moved back to the area from Florida where they had resided for 12 years.She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Sanford. She was a longtime volunteer at the Meal Kitchen at the Sanford Unitarian-Universalist Church.Family members recalled how gracious, kind and joyful she was, very quickly putting one at ease and making one feel at home. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and playing Bingo.She was predeceased by her first husband James Yerxa, and by a son, Dale James Yerxa.Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Richard Bergeron, 2 sons, Lawrence Yerxa of Kennebunk, Jeffrey Yerxa of Big Pine Key, FL, 3 daughters, Linda Duckworth of Lebanon, Loretta Tobey of Saco, Terri Bronder of North Berwick, a stepson, Richard Bergeron of Saco, 2 stepdaughters, Laurie Martin of Newfield, Denise Bergeron of Lebanon, 2 brothers, Lindy Butler and Jackie Butler, both of Sanford, 2 sisters, Maude Harriman and Joyce Tracy, both of Saco, 22 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and by her beloved dog Alvin.Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9 AM on Tuesday in Holy Family Church.
