Donna Johnson, 74, of Shapleigh, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brief illness.Donnas was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 4, 1943. She was raised in Worcester where she met her husband Jack and they shared 57 wonderful years together. They enjoyed many years living on the lake in Webster, Massachusetts after being married. Their hobbies included snowmobiling, water skiing, sailing, swimming and ice skating.Donna had a variety of occupations during her life including being a homemaker, a librarian, a real estate agent, a postal clerk and a business owner. In 1979 Donna and her family relocated to Maine. In 1989 she and Jack built a country store in Shapleigh and called it Boonies. Donna was instrumental in the design, layout and everyday management of what turned out to be a thriving business. Even as her illness progressed she was often in the store greeting patrons.Surviving are her husband, Jack Johnson; her daughter, Deborah Smith; two sons, John Johnson and his wife Donna and Todd Johnson and her brother Dean Johnson and his wife Cheryl. She was always happy in the midst of her grandchildren, Valerie Johnson, John Johnson and his wife Lauren, Lauren Johnson, Linda Johnson and last but not least a great-grandson, Owen Lovely.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a funeral service following at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 15th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be at the Highland Grove Cemetery in Shapleigh.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, 383 US Route 1 #2C, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
