Donna Mae (Somerset) Gagne, 62 years old, of Sanford, Maine, formerly of Exeter, NH died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family and friends following a lengthy illness.She was born on May 19, 1944 in Franklin, NH, the daughter of Ivan and Barbara Davis. Barbara later married Oscar Somerset who adopted Donna at the age of three as his own.She graduated with honors from St. Joseph's Academy in South Berwick, ME. She worked many years at Bank East in Rochester and later worked as a secretary at the Margaret Chase Smith School in Sanford, ME, where she retired in the year 2000 due to declining health.Donna cherished her husband of 22 years, Roland, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.Her special gift to her daughter Barbara was raising her only child Melissa, after her sudden death in 1989.She enjoyed doing ceramics, painting, needlepoint, making dresses for her little "Morgie", and creating lasting memories for her family through her scrapbooks.She is survived by her loving husband Roland of Sanford, her children, David Dubois of Farmington, Michael Dubois and his wife Cindi of Portsmouth, and Ronald Dubois and his wife Doreen of Milton; grandchildren, Melissa (Cooper) Danforth and her husband Ray of Farmington, Jessica Dubois, Lorianne Dubois, Ronald Dubois Jr., David Dubois and Aaron Dubois; great-grandchildren, Jacob Danforth and Morgan (Morgie) Danforth. Also surviving are her siblings, Oscar Somerset and his wife Norma of Rochester, Mary Gould and her husband Peter of Kenduskeag, ME and Bonnie Schoff, her best friend, of Berwick. Also, "Dee" who made many memorable moments for Donna throughout the years and was there to help and support the family through her the last few months of failing health.She was predeceased by her brother Ivan Davis Jr., and her daughter Barbara (Dubois) Cooper.A family celebration of her life was held on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at her home in Sanford. Officiating was the Rev. Ed Vaeni, with prayers by her sisters-in-law Anita Forbes and Bunny Gagne.A special thank you to all the caregivers from Wentworth Homecare and Hospice, with special thanks to Dolores.Memorials in Donna's name may be made to the Wentworth Homecare and Hospice.Services have been arranged through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home of Springvale, ME.Condolences may be expressed by using the tab to the left.
