Donald A. Yeskoo and Joan S. Yeskoo

On December 9, 2017 and December 13, 2017, respectively, our parents-Donald Albert Yeskoo, 88, and our mother, Joan Shaw Yeskoo, 82, entered into the presence of their Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, as the result of an accident.Along with his twin brother, our father was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on July 31, 1929, to Richard C. and Myrtle (Boonstra) Yeskoo. Our mother was born in the District of Columbia on January 19, 1935 to Dr. LaVerne R. and Thelma (Shaw) Philpott. Our parents met at the Hawthorne Gospel Church (New Jersey) Evening Bible School and were married on October 4, 1953. Raised in northern New Jersey, we three children joined them- Dona Joan, Dianne Lynda, and Carolynn.Our father began his corporate career at Nopco Chemical Company in Newark, New Jersey, Nopco later merged with Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company, where his career culminated as an Advertising Director. Through the years Mom also enjoyed several jobs in the workplace; she especially enjoyed working for Dr. Elliot Ginchansky, an Asthma Allergy Specialist in Dallas, Texas.One of the highlights of Dad's retirement was working with Rear Admiral Richard Rybacki to bring the tall ships to Portland, Maine, during OpSail 2000. At that time he also celebrated his 71St birthday aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle. Our parents ultimately retired in Wells, Maine, and we think we can safely say they enjoyed every minute of their lives there.Dad had a larger-than life personality, while Mom was quieter and enjoyed reading, quilting, and her Bible study with dear friends. Since childhood, dad loved airplanes, studying the Bible; and he was particularly proud of his Dutch heritage and the relatives he found in The Netherlands. Both of our parents enjoyed church work and, as we grew up, we all enjoyed annual New England vacations.Dad was predeceased by his parents and three older sisters- Dorothy Vink, Ruth Eck, and Lois Kendall. Mom was an only child.Dad is survived by his twin brother, Richard (Dick) Yeskoo, his cousin, Betty Myers, and several nieces and nephews and their families. Mom is survived by several cousins and their families.Both are survived by we three children, their granddaughter, Hana Yeskoo, three step-grandchildren Sarah, Matthew, and Valerie, and seven Step-great grandchildren.We want to emphasize that based solely on their trust in salvation through Jesus Christ, our parents are in Heaven, and we will reunite with them someday and spend eternity together. This is because each of us also made that decision to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. A double burial and memorial service will take place in the spring on a date yet to be determined.
