Donald J. Hupe, 60, of Sanford, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday October 1, 2005.He was born on November 14, 1944 in Sanford, a son of Albert and Irene (Allaire) Hupe. He attended Holy Family School and graduated from Sanford High School.He served his country in the US Army in Vietnam from 1968-69. He then served 13 years in the National Guard. He retired from WASCO Products in 1992 after 12 years of service due to illness. He had previusly been employed 8 years at Tilcon and 16 years at Genest Bros.He had served as Past 1st Vice Commander for the American Legion,was a lifelong member of the VFW. He was also a member of the AMVETS, Lafayette Club, Wolfe's Club, Sanford K.C., Springvale Social Club and the Elk's Lodge. During his spare time he enjoyed vegetable gardening, woodworking and hunting.He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Real and Joseph Hupe.He is survived by his loving family, his fiance, Shirley Gauthier of Sanford, two sons, Donald D. Hupe and his wife, Lisa of Sanford, Douglas A. Hupe and his wife, Stephanie of Springvale,one daughter, Kristin Morrison of Westbrook, three borthers, Richard Hupe of North Berwick, Maurice Hupe of Shapleigh, Michael Hupe of Arundel, four sisters, Shirley Benoit of Sanford, Lorraine Rodrigue of Shapleigh, Sandra Bicknell of Shapleigh and Nancy Townsend of Acton, and 2 grandchildren, Jacqueline and Shannon as well as several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 4 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sanford. Committal prayers and burial will take place on Thursday at 10am at St. Ignatius Cemetery.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society 1 Main Street, Suite 300 Topsham, Maine 04086.Condolences may be sent to the family by returning to the "condolences" icon at the top left of this page.
