Donald George Peterman

Donald George Peterman, 76, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Mineola, New York, on February 23, 1950, to the late Robert F. and Eileen M. (Burch) Peterman. He grew up in New Hyde Park, New York, before marrying and eventually making his home in Massachusetts.

Donald was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, partner, son, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his children, Erin Craft and her husband, Ken, and Shannon Leniec and her husband, Michael; his three grandsons, Jack Leniec, Ryan Leniec, and Trevor Leniec; and his girlfriend, Elaine Hartley, along with Elaine’s entire family, whom Donald came to love as his own. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Peterman of New York, and his sister, Barbara Bacon of Massachusetts.

Donald earned an associate degree from Nassau Community College and went on to build a 25-year career in the pharmaceutical industry. He retired from that career at the age of 50, but retirement did not keep him from pursuing his dreams. A few years later, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and opened his own business. In July 2005, Donald opened Sparks Fly Fireworks in Chichester, New Hampshire. During his many years as a business owner, he developed lasting friendships and strong bonds with his employees. Although he sold the business in 2025, those relationships remained an important part of his life. Donald also served for several years on the Chichester Budget Committee and has deep roots within the community.

Donald enjoyed fishing, walking along the beach, and snowshoeing. He was a devoted New England Patriots fan and could always be counted on to be in front of the television for their games. One of his greatest joys was traveling to New York to watch his grandsons play football and baseball. More than anything, Donald loved spending time with family and friends. He made every effort to be present for birthdays, celebrations, milestones, and all of life’s important occasions.

Donald shared many wonderful years with Elaine and cherished the time he spent with her and her family. Elaine’s three children and several grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He loved them all and spoke fondly of Elaine’s siblings as well. He especially enjoyed the many dinners, parties, gatherings, and travels they shared together.

Donald will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, kind heart, and overwhelming generosity. He had a way of making people laugh, making people feel welcome, and making lasting connections with those around him. His presence touched countless lives, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Donald, we love you and will miss you always.
