Donald J. Cote

Donald J. Cote, 71 years old, died Thursday at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH following a period of declining health.He was born in Jewett City, CT on May 25, 1934, a son of Alphonse and Jeannette (Prince) Cote. He was educated at the former Holy Family School, Brewster (MA) Academy, and Lasalette Seminary of Enfield, NH. He was a lifelong resident of Sanford / Springvale, a long time communicant and usher at St. Ignatius Church. He was also a member of the Sanford Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.He worked for six years at Tennford Weaving. He later was in partnership as Lord and Cote Painting of Kennebunk / Kennebunkport.Survivors are his mother Jeannette Cote of Sanford, Eight brothers, Andre, Rene, Robert, Roland, and Roger all of Sanford, Raymond of Springvale, Ernest of Shapleigh, and Maurice of Oro Valley, AZ; four sisters, Pauline Shaw and Helena Ferland both of Springvale, Rachelle Howard of Harbor City, CA, and Gloria Clayton of San Antonio, TX, along with many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:00 AM at St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery in the spring of 2006.
