Donald E. Belanger

Donald E. Belanger, 75 years old, of Sanford, ME died on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME.Mr. Belanger was born on August 6, 1931 in Sanford, ME. He was the son of the late Joseph Pierre and Emelda (Valliere) Belanger. He was a graduate of Sanford High School, and attended the University of Southern Maine. Mr. Belanger proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Navy during the Korean War.Mr. Belanger worked several jobs over the years, however he was most proud of owning and operating the Lu-Mikes Pizza Shops in Sanford and Wells, the first pizza shops to offer a fresh dough hand tossed pizza in the area.Reading books, magazines, and newspapers in the quiet comfort of his home was what Donald enjoyed most. That, and of course the company of his loving wife and family.Surviving is his wife of 53 years Marguerite (Fortier) Belanger of Sanford; their sons, Luke Belanger and his wife Celine of St. Hubert PQ, Michael Belanger of New York, NY, and a granddaughter Emilie Labrecque-Belanger of St. Hubert, PQ.A period of visitation for Mr. Belanger will be held this Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale from 4 to 6 PM, followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at 6 PM.
