Dolores L. Martineau, 90, of Sanford, passed away on Friday May 27, 2005 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Sacred Heart of Mary, PQ., Canada on April 24, 1915 a daughter of Arthur and Adelia (Simoneau) Carrier. Dolores moved to the United States from Canada in 1928 at the age of 13 with her family seeking better work opportunities. They settled in Springvale. Soon after arriving to the United States, Dolores found herself helping the family by taking care of the housework and helping her father due to the loss of his second wife. Dolores worked in the Springvale mills for several years. In her later years she worked in the kitchen at Goodall Hospital as a tray girl. Dolores's last residence was at The Lodges for adult care, where she enjoyed 2 1/2 wonderful years sharing good times with many special friends and a very professional staff including Linda Gorman. Her favorite past time was enjoying the company and conversation of friends and relatives, she was a talker. And now she will forever be with her Sammy and her loving friends and relatives in heaven. 'Good Night Irene'.She is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Sammy Martineau, who passed away in December of 1994, her three sisters, Berthe Paquette, Germaine Carrier and Annette Gouin and her two brothers, Gerard Carrier and Fernand Carrier.She is survived by her son, Robert Martineau and his wife, Gayle of Sanford, and their son, Anthony of Southwick, MA ; her sisters, AngeAimee Prefontaine of Sanford, and Jean Plante of Seminole, Florida. She was a special 'Ma Tante' to her many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express its thanks to the staff at The Lodges Adult Care Facility, Goodall Hospital, Newton Center and a very special thanks to the wonderful people of Beacon Hospice.Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Beacon Hospice Inc., 42 Brickyard Court, York, Maine 03909A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 4 at 10:00 AM at St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black funeral Home 29 Winter Street Sanford, Maine.
