Dennis J. Guay, 70, of Gorham, formerly of Sanford, passed away at home on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Dennis was born on March 20, 1953, in Biddeford, Maine, to Lucien and Fernande Guay. He spent his formative years in Biddeford and received his education from local Catholic schools. In 1971, he graduated from Biddeford High School and went on to attend Husson College, where he earned his degree in business. It was during his time at Husson that Dennis met his first wife, Jane Roy. They were married in 1973 and settled in Sanford, where they raised two daughters. Dennis and Jane shared 43 years of marriage before her passing in 2016. Dennis began his professional journey while still in school, working at Noyes Tire in Biddeford. After several years, he joined Summit of New England under the guidance of Don Foshay, Sr. His dedication and hardworking nature played a crucial role in the success of the company. Dennis's commitment to his work was unwavering, and his contributions left a lasting impact. In 2019, Dennis's life took a turn when he found love again. He met Wanda, and they embarked on a beautiful journey together. They married in 2022 and shared a deep passion for travel. Exploring various destinations, they created cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Deeply devoted to his Catholic faith, Dennis was an active member of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Throughout the years, he served in various capacities, including as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and even as a missionary to Haiti. Dennis was also a dedicated 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, always ready to extend a helping hand and volunteer his time for the benefit of others. Dennis's life was marked by his passion for various hobbies. Whether it was biking, camping, hiking, ballroom dancing, playing pickleball, or skiing, he pursued his interests with enthusiasm. Above all, he cherished moments spent with his family and friends, for whom he reserved a special place in his heart. Dennis J. Guay was a beacon of light and warmth, bringing joy and love into the lives of all those fortunate enough to have known him. His generous, loving, and thoughtful spirit exemplified the essence of selflessness and giving. He leaves behind a void that will be deeply felt by his family and friends. In honor of Dennis's memory, let us carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. May we be inspired by his example to live selflessly and to embrace the precious moments we share with our loved ones. Dennis's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us and reminding us of the power of a compassionate soul. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of being part of his life. Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Guay and by his parents Lucien and Fernande Guay. Surviving are his wife, Wanda Guay of Gorham; two daughters, Jennifer (David) Hunt of Danvers, Massachusetts and Jill (Brian) Arel of South Portland; four grandchildren, Ryan and Olivia Hunt and Aiden and Keegan Arel; his sister, Gisele (Maurice) Dolbec of North Berwick; two step-sons, Anthony (Rachel) Cook of Scarborough and Chris (Alpha) Cook of South Portland, his step-grandson Mason and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine, 04083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church, 66 North Avenue, Sanford, Maine, 04073. A memorial luncheon will follow at 11:30 the Brothers of Christian Instruction located at 132 Shaker Hill Road in Alfred. Interment will be held at a later date, at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.   2. One of the last times I saw Dennis, he gifted me a brick carrier, telling me that I could use it to carry 10 bricks at a time. After testing it, I never got the chance to tell him that 10 bricks are too heavy for me to handle!

  3. I was Dennis’s neighbor on morning street, and he was an outstanding individual. He certainly was one of the nicest people I ever had the privilege of knowing. Dennis you will be missed by many.
