Delbert Lionel Hardy, "Bumpa", went home to our Lord on June 13, 2003.Mr. Hardy was born on October 30, 1907 in Medford, MA. He was the son of Lionel Lindsay and Florence Helena Hines Hardy. He resided at the Sentry Hill Nursing Home in York, ME.During WWII Mr. Hardy worked at the South Portland Shipyard. Following the end of the war, he spent the remainder of his working years as a construction worker, and was involved in the construction of many schools, power stations, and housing projects in the Sanford, Portsmouth, and Dover area's. For many years he was an auxiliary fireman for the Springvale Fire Department, and a member of the Southern Maine Fish & Game Association.Bumpa was married to the late Pauline E. Edwards of West Newfield; together they raised two sons, Richard and the late Jack Hardy. He spent his childhood in Cape Porpoise and Sanford, and raised his family in the Sanford-Springvale area of Maine.Bumpa is survived by his son Richard A. Hardy of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.A period of visitation for Bumpa will be held on Saturday June 21, 2003 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME; where a funeral service will be held at 12 PM. Committal services will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.
